No, not Liam, that’s not for another 2 months or so. No, this was Ivo’s cousin Ischa, who just turned 18. We went down to Tilburg by train for the celebration, which reminded me of three years ago when I met Ivo’s family for the first time at Ischa’s 15th birthday. Then I was just here visiting before Ivo and I took our roadtrip to Spain and I didn’t speak any Dutch and I was all nervous about meeting them all. Now there’s barely any English spoken at the gathering and I think it’s just lovely to see them all again. Of course, this time the Dutch was a little hard since I’m still deaf in one ear from the ear infection – hope that clears up soon! But it’s hard to concentrate on a foreign language when you can’t hear it properly!
Anyway, here’s the birthday boy – as a present we let him feed Liam!
Nah, we really gave him some taster bottles of hard alcohol – 18 here marks adulthood and means that one can drink hard alcohol (can drink beer, wine and coolers at 16), can get a drivers license and can vote.
