What a difference from last year’s Christmas. Then Liam was just 9 days old and we had just finished with kraamzorg so we just spent a quiet day together. But this year I managed to make it a “real” Christmas (despite some hesitation from Ivo), with stockings and presents and a big dinner with Ivo’s family. Unlike last year, when I was too tired to feel anything, I did miss being back in Canada with my family very much, all the more so since they had a wonderful white Christmas. But the day here was very nice and celebratory.
Liam is also starting to communicate with us – his first word sound seems to be Dutch:
Translation:
Mackenzie: Purr
Liam: (Peekaboo game)
Ivo: Would you like some more food? Would you like some more food?
Liam: (shakes head and makes negative noises)
Ivo: Are you done? (done=klaar)
Liam: kla (with hand movements)
Ivo: Would you like to get out? Would you like to get out of your chair? Would you like some more food?
Liam: (shakes head)
Ivo: No?
Liam: (makes klaar movement)
Ivo: Oh, you’re done.
