Today we went with visiting Canadian friend D to another World Heritage Site, Kinderdijk. Again, while nice enough, it was hardly on the scale of an Angkor Wat or some of the other sites I’ve seen.
But it was pretty enough, and quintessentially Dutch, with windmills and dykes and polders (the areas of land inside canals), as you see here.
Liam quite enjoyed his time in the back carrier, as he usually does.
The boys with D.
Me and D.
A swan in the canals. It still doesn’t seem quite real that they’re a wild indigenous species here.
A row of windmills. There are 19 on the site.
Liam getting to walk about.
Hmmm. Something about the positioning of the words here…
Though D did have one and declared it not the worst worst she’d had. Here’s D post-worst.
Liam thought it was great fun to walk between our laps and then sit with one or the other of us. Here he is with Ivo.
And with me.
And some last scenic shots.
And after that, a scenic drive back through the polders to Utrecht, and a dinner that included poffertjes to round off the Dutch experience for D.
