Fourth of July

We had a great celebration of the Fourth yesterday, hosted by my friend Angie. Lots and lots of yummy food including a gargantuan spinach-artichoke dip and a barbecue, all culminating in making smores over a fire. I fulfilled my craving for blackberry pie by bringing one – smart since then I don’t have to eat all of it. The company was also great – an American couple, and several of us foreigner-Dutch type couples containing the Dutch men and two other American women besides Angie and myself, an Irish woman (plus her visiting mother and cousin) and one Mexican woman (though her husband couldn’t come). We stayed quite late and put Liam to sleep there in Angie’s travel crib, waking him to take him home at 12:30 or so – he went back down quite easily. Quite a fun afternoon and evening. Thanks Angie!

There were several kids there too – Angie’s son Aiden, another girl about their age and a two-year old. The kids had fun with each other too and played well together, well except for when Liam pushed Aiden over a couple times. Sigh. But mostly the boys were their normal cute selves together, even kissing and hugging each other a couple times. They’re so similar, the two boys, and I’m afraid the only pictures I took were of them being cute together.

And, amazingly enough, I’m doing this post in real time! Maybe I can even continue that!
