October Photos

To catch myself up to present time, here are a whole bunch of photos from October. I’m writing this post as I sit waiting to get blood taken again as part of a fasting glucose test. Some would see two hours sitting in a blood test place as pretty boring. I saw it as a chance to actually get some time during the day to myself, even if it was really early in the morning. Liam is getting over what we think may have been the swine flu – they’re not testing now, just assuming that anyone with a fever and a cough could have it and giving the little ones Tamiflu. But it means that no one else should babysit, especially since most of my friends also have small kids, so Ivo has to stay home from work, so I came shortly after 7 am to begin. Not my normal time to wake up!

Anyway, the photos from the month. October dawned lovely and sunny. Here we’re biking home the long way from yet another trip to the kinderboederij.

Liam is still obsessed by the vacuum cleaner, and insists on helping every time it comes out. I actually have to be careful not to let him see it when I get the stroller out of the same closet.

At a work event in the spring, Ivo had received tickets to the Ouwehands zoo, so on another lovely Sunday we headed there to see the animals. He loved the fish.

I thought this warning was funny – especially here where stupidity warning signs are less prevelant.

Liam again was resistant to the stroller, but was mostly good about walking with us.

When he wasn’t Papa’s shoulders were much preferred to being strapped in.

Another place it will be fun to go back to when the kids are older – there are some awesome play areas for older kids.

I finally gave up on holding out for an iPhone (since I can in no way justify one except for wanting it) and bought a new phone to replace the old obsolete Nokia of Ivo’s I’d been using for months. It has a slightly better camera.

In the evening – Liam tries to feed Ivo his phone.

And multitasks.

At a Mums and Tots at Angie’s. These three little munchkins were born within weeks of each other – the girl is actually the youngest but is bigger than both the boys.

They loved dancing with this thing.

Here’s a video of the dancing.

And Liam figured out how the iPhone works pretty well, moving between images. So intuitive, even a less-than-two-year-old can figure it out! (I still want one, this was Lorraine’s)

Liam really likes his new table and chairs and insists on eating there.

Playing in his room in the morning. Liam doesn’t like to get out of his sleep sack for a bit, preferring to waddle around for a bit and bring me books and things to read to him.

There’s cake on this page – yummy – so Liam’s demonstrating how yummy it is and that yes, you can eat the book.

Me and him.

He’s now starting to need to have certain things in his crib to sleep – his blankie, a book and the sheep.

Finally out of the sleep sack.

Even though I didn’t put them out since it’s not done here, I decided to carve up the pumpkins this year and get Liam to help me to get a start on maintaining the tradition.

image

Though he had much more fun putting the stuff back in the pumpkin.

And finally, Hallowe’en. The IWCU had a Hallowe’en party for the kids, which was great.

We all dressed up (well, more or less). I don’t think many people realized that my (extremely last minute) costume was my former playing outfit (though with the belly, my jerseys don’t fit). Not sure why I kept all this stuff.

But despite all the activities, a lot of the kids just wanted to play in the cool playground. Liam certainly agreed.

Except for the trick-or-treating. Stations were set up around the place and the kids trouped around getting candy.

image

It didn’t take long for Liam to figure this out and get into it.

image

And he was pretty excited by his candy (which, following family tradition, we stole from him, at least this year).
