Had a wonderful visit with a rugby friend who goes way back – we started playing together in 1999 when I joined the Lomas. She’s doing some amazing things – working in a hot spot in Africa, helping aid workers with their mental health. Take the hardship of coming to a foreign country and multiply it by degrees of danger, uncertainty, corruption, transitoriness and the absence of many comforts of home, such as cheese and chocolate. I completely admire what she’s doing. And it was fascinating to get a real glimpse of what’s going on there and reasons why the situation is so intractable.
