Cute Pictures from the Last Few Weeks

We haven’t really done much in the last month or so, just going from day to day, really. The beginning of September is often transition time, but this transition has been hard to face, the one to “nothing” but stay-at-home mum, something I never saw myself as. Up until now, I’ve been busy with Dutch classes three afternoons a week, but I’m now ingeburgerd (yes, I passed my exams), so that’s over with. I was going to be looking for a job right about now, earlier even, but the pregnancy makes it a little difficult, especially since I think the four month Dutch maternity leave is far too short, especially with one month of that mandatory before the due date. I can just see telling my new employer after I’m hired (not required to do so before), “Oh yeah, I’m pregnant, so I’ll be taking four months leave from January 1. Oh, and I’d like another 3-4 months unpaid leave after that!” I’m sure that would go over well. Not to mention that now isn’t exactly the best time to be looking for a first job in a new country, what with the world economy and all. So, stay-at-home mum it is. Though stay tuned for our crazy plan for what we’re doing from May-August 2010.

Anyway, as the title promised, cute pictures from what we have been doing. Liam loves to sit in the office chair and “type” on the keyboard and move the mouse around, just like Mama and Papa.

Oh, and my sister Mara came to visit overnight with her friend Chad. It was a lovely evening and I’m glad she came by as part of her Recession World Tour. We didn’t get any pictures with her, but she did get some cute ones of Liam.

Liam and Chad got on well.

I’m not sure exactly why this needed to happen – he started sitting in his bathtub “reading” while I was in the shower, and then he moved it into his room and set this up.

And a few seconds of mirth on a swing.

This was at our friend Minh’s 2nd birthday party. Liam and another boy decided to sit in the fireplace with Ivo – these photos were taken by a friend of Minh’s parents.

She also got a cool one of Ivo.

And, as I mentioned, I got ingeburgerd. Here I am with my official certificate and the rose. The woman who greeted me and found my certificate was quite impressed that I’d reached level 4 overall.
