Haarlem is a lovely town, but it sort of feels, well, normal to me. I went up to Haarlem on Wednesday to see my friend K from my first Dutch class. We had a lovely time sitting in cafes, desultorily shopping and playing with Liam for a while in one of the courtyard gardens that the city is famous for. The gardens and buildings quite resemble some of the residential colleges at my alma mater, though I guess it would be vice versa since the gardens are quite a bit older than the colleges.

Liam climbing K in one of those gardens.

And with me – a new outfit from my friend A.

Coming down from playing airplane – Liam loves movement of any kind, including being thrown in the air.

And of course, going for the camera, which is endlessly fascinating.

The garden.

A pretty street.

A woman with a bakfiets – a bicycle with a box in front.

We wandered through a antique/flea market.
