I’ve just realized I have 5 different methods to carry Liam – two strollers, front carrier, sling and the one I used today, the back carrier. All have, or had, their place – Liam’s too tall for the front carrier now, and while I still use the sling, I use it differently, just to secure him on my hip for short distances, and don’t use it nearly as often. The back carrier is now the on-person implement of choice. So that’s what we took out for a walk through some of the green space around our house.<\/p>\n

Here we are leaving the house – reflected in the door. I’m wearing a toque for two reasons – one, my ear is still blocked and sore from the horrendous ear infection I had last week, and two, Liam thinks pulling my hair is one of the best parts of the back carrier experience. I’m less enthusiastic.<\/p>\n

Reflection in the canal behind our building. Canal is one of the few concepts in Dutch to have many more words than in English – singel, gracht, kanaal, sloot, tocht, boezem, vaart – they all translate as just canal as far as I can figure out.<\/p>\n

Two little boys playing soccer – it’s nice here that kids can just go out and play, riding a bike to the soccer field, no parent in sight. These boys were cute – seemed to enjoy tripping each other and falling down and just playing in their own little world.<\/p>\n
