Helpoort (Hell's Gate). This is the oldest city gate in the Netherlands. You can still see the portcullis grove inside - it was in additon to wooden doors and could be closed quickly. The extension (added during reconstruction, but often added when danger threatened) originally had "murder holes" in the floor to attack the enemy from above.
