The "Little Convent" was originally the church of a Franciscan monastery built in 1233. On May 8th, 1536 the town acquired the property from the last 3 remaining monks in exchange for 50 guilders annuity. In the years 1584-1587 the building was converted into a granary. During the last conversion, the building, which in the interim period had been used as a fire station and warehouse, was transformed into a Municipal Hall and a Hotel. The area where the fountain is used to be a market for clothing repair items.
